When Harlan Goode walked across the stage at his graduation in 2025, few could have predicted just how quickly his life was about to change. Just months later, Harlan was sitting in front of the Australian Idol judging panel, delivering a rendition of ABBA's "The Winner Takes It All", so assured it earned him a golden ticket straight into the competition's Top 30.

What followed was a whirlwind season. Week after week, Harlan delivered standout performances that built on each other: a commanding take on Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer," a showstopping Elton John tribute that saw him climb atop the piano, and a defiant rendition of Irene Cara's "Fame" in the Grand Final itself. Judges Marcia Hines, Kyle Sandilands and Amy Shark were vocal in their praise throughout, with Hines telling him in the finale that she didn't think "anybody's ever going to forget your name."

Through it all, Harlan kept Sheldon close to his heart. His performance of "I'm Still Standing" was dedicated to three women who shaped him: his nan, his mum, and his former Sheldon music teacher, Ms Julianne Moore, whom he has credited with refining his musicianship and reshaping his mindset as both a student and a young artist. The College community returned that loyalty by sending video messages of support ahead of the Grand Final, hosting a watch party, and rallying behind him alongside the broader Redlands community throughout the season.

Harlan ultimately finished as runner-up to winner Kesha Oayda, but the result did not slow his momentum. Within weeks of the finale, he had signed with a management team and begun work on original material, determined to build a career beyond the show. True to his word, he didn't wait long to bring that next chapter to fruition, with Harlan: The Homecoming Tour! 

Harlan announced his first headline show, Harlan: The Homecoming Tour, as a way of thanking the community that had backed him so passionately throughout his Idol run. The tour kicked off with 2 Brisbane shows on Saturday 27 June at the Redlands Performing Arts Centre (RPAC), that sold out within days. The response to the tour was so overwhelming, that Harlan added more shows on the Gold Coast, in Sydney and in Melbourne. 

At the Brisbane shows, there were some familiar faces on stage with Harlan. As he was joined by none other than Mr Lachlan Bell (Harlan's own Sheldon guitar teacher), and Mr William Martineau (Class of 2010, and Harlan's piano teacher). Who many Alumni will remember from school as their own instrumental and band teachers, or perhaps a fellow Alumni class member! 

For Harlan, the tour is about more than ticket sales. In the lead-up to his Idol Grand Final, he spoke about how strange it felt returning home after graduation, before the wave of community support during the competition reminded him why representing the Redlands meant so much. The Homecoming Tour is his way of closing that loop: stepping back onto a stage close to where his journey began (Even though we know some of you have already seen Harlan on stage at RPAC), in front of the very people, teachers and Sheldon community who championed him from the very first audition. 

At Harlan's Brisbane shows, he announced that he will be headlining RedFest 2026, so be sure to secure your tickets if you want to see him again! If you can't make it to RedFest, but want to see Harlan, you can still purchase limited tickets to Harlans other shows on the Gold Coast on 1 August, Sydney on 28 August, and Melbourne on 30 August this year! 

The Sheldon community couldn't be prouder of Harlan for all that he has achieved. From the music rooms of Sheldon to the bright lights of Australian Idol, and to stages up the Australian East Coast, we can't wait to see what else Haran achieves!
