Congratulations to 2021 Alumna, Madelize Breet, who recently traveled to Vienna with the UQ Law School Mooting team for the 2025 Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. Madelize received 1st runner-up for the Martin Domke Award for Best Individual Oralist, this was out of more than 1,000 individual speakers. The team also achieved an Honorable Mentioned for the Eric E. Bergsten Award for the team orals, where they advanced to the Round of just 32 teams, out of more than 390 teams. This year Madelize was also part of the team that was the winner of the 15th Budapest Pre-Moot.
In both 2024 and 2023, Madelize and her team were recognised with the Best Domestic Moot Team Award by the UQ Law Alumni Association. In 2023, she was also part of the team which came first out of 42 teams at the Sir Alfred Deakin International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition, where Madelize spoke at the Grand Final. In 2022, Madelize and her team were semi-finalists in 3 major competitions run by the UQ Law Society: The Junior Client Interviewing, Juinor Moot, and Junior Negotiation competitions.
We are so proud of everything Madelize has achieved, and look forward to seeing her continued success in the legal field!
