We are thrilled for Axel Duffy (Class of 2016), who has been cast as Marty McFly in the Australian premiere of Back to the Future: The Musical. The show opened for the first time ever to Australian audiences at the Sydney Lyric Theatre on Friday, 26 September 2025!

Since his graduation from Sheldon, Axel has built an impressive theatre career, with notable roles in Grease the Musical, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and Oklahoma. Australian producer John Frost for Crossroads Live Australia said, "We are thrilled to welcome the immensely talented Axel Duffy to our Australian cast as Marty McFly. His charisma, energy, and musicality bring a fresh spark to this iconic role, and we're excited for audiences to fall in love with Marty all over again".

Axel has also received praise from Tony Award-winning director John Rando, who said, "From the moment Axel Duffy walked into the audition room, we knew we were seeing something special. His energy, charm, and authenticity perfectly capture the spirit of Marty McFly." Rando further spoke about how casting a talent like Axel as Marty McFly ensures the heart of the story will shine brightly for Australian audiences.

Congratulation Axel! We can't wait to see you take the DeLorean for a spin!
